What an amazing start to the year it has been for 6KC! We’ve packed so much learning, creativity and fun into our first term.
In PE, we’ve been developing our teamwork and problem-solving skills through Outdoor and Adventurous Activities (OAA), taking part in team games, orienteering challenges and activities that really tested our cooperation and communication. We also worked hard on our tennis skills, improving our forehand, backhand and serving techniques. The term ended with an exciting tennis tournament – congratulations to St Andrew’s House for their fantastic win!
Our topic this term was The Tudors. We explored this fascinating period in history through a brilliant trip to Tudor World in Stratford-upon-Avon, where we also enjoyed a walking tour learning all about William Shakespeare and his hometown. In History, we studied what life was like in Tudor times, and in Geography we compared Tudor London to the London we know today – what a difference! In DT, we put our creativity to the test by designing and making our very own Tudor cushions. We researched the luxurious materials and patterns used by the rich Tudors before creating our own designs inspired by them – they look wonderful!
Our music lessons with Mr Wrobel have been a real highlight too. We’ve continued to learn the clarinet, and our skills are really developing – the class is producing a lovely, rich sound together.
We’ve also enjoyed plenty of special events this term. Our first school disco of the year was a huge success, full of fun, dancing and laughter! On European Day of Languages, we explored Switzerland, learning about the country’s culture and even tasting some authentic Swiss cheese!
It’s been a fantastic first term for 6KC – full of learning, teamwork and enjoyment. We can’t wait to see what exciting things the rest of the year brings!
