This term, 6KC pupils have been immersed in a rich and exciting curriculum centred on the Ancient Islamic Civilisation, making meaningful links across subjects and developing both academic and practical skills.
In History and Geography, pupils explored the achievements and influence of the Ancient Islamic Civilisation. They learned about trade, culture, and innovation, with a particular focus on the Silk Road and how it connected different parts of the world. As part of this learning, children also investigated a range of biomes, helping them understand how geography affected trade, settlement, and daily life.
In DT, pupils brought their learning to life through cooking. They explored West Asian ingredients and spices, discovering how food reflects culture and climate. The children worked with chickpeas to make a delicious stew and falafels, and they also learned traditional preservation techniques by making preserved lemons. This hands-on work developed practical cooking skills as well as an appreciation of global cuisines.
PE lessons focused on gymnastics and hockey. Pupils developed strength, balance, and coordination in gymnastics, while hockey lessons built teamwork, passing skills, and tactical awareness. The children particularly enjoyed playing matches and applying what they had learned in game situations.
Overall, Term 3 has been a busy and engaging term for 6KC, with pupils showing enthusiasm, curiosity, and creativity across the curriculum.
