3/4GS had a brilliant Term 2!

In English, we read 'The Barnabus Project' and at one point in the story, the failed creatures had to negotiate a maze in order to escape. This led to the children creating a classroom maze of their own using the tables and chairs. The children worked together a'maze'ingly well and even created a couple of dead-ends!

We enjoyed the Ancient Egypt topic. At one point, the children took on the role of Howard Carter. They discovered Tutankhamun's tomb and explored inside to see what wonderful things they could discover. When Lord Carnavon (Mr. Sedgwick!) asked them afterwards whether they found anything, the Mr. Carters responded with the three famous words..."Yes, wonderful things."

As part of Children in Need's Challenge 25, the children played Top Trumps. The challenge was that they had to play the game without using their voices and to find other ways of communicating. It was fascinating to see how children were able to play Top Trumps without using their voices - there were plenty of wonderful expressions on their faces!

In Science, we carried out an experiment to see what happens to the egg shells (like our teeth) in different liquids. It was interesting to see what happened to the egg that was soaked in the vinegar!

The fitness topic in PE kept everyone very fit. This included an activity where we had to change direction quickly and effectively when running.

As part of the school’s value of ‘Give’, we decided to give a local care home some entertainment in the form of Christmas carol singing. This included some recorder playing of ‘Jingle Bells’ and the use of British Sign Language!

We finished the term with some lovely Christmas activities including a Christmas party, Christmas dinner and Christmas jumper day!

We can’t wait for Term 3 to begin when we will start the Rule Britannia topic!
